In case you were wondering...

In case you were wondering...

This blog exists to encourage all those who have ever wanted--and needed!--a tiny getaway close to home. A workshop, playhouse, garden shed, sanctuary, mini-greenhouse, studio, home office; whatever it is you need, it IS doable, with some sacrifice, imagination, and compromise.

It helps if you're handy, too.

The only thing I DON'T like about a project...

...is being tied to it.

Soooo...is it going to rain again, or stop? If it stops, will Mark come? If Mark comes, when? And when do we squeeze in a trip to the grocery store?

So here we are; I'd assumed he would NOT come on Sunday, but since it rained yesterday, he told J. he thought he might.

I'm not good at being tied.

  1. With us it's not waiting on anyone else as my husband thinks he should do everything himself but the wind! If he is building something and knows the next day will be windy he just won't stop till he's got everything to a point a gale won't wreck it (and some of our winds are about that strong) sometimes working 12 hours or so. I get really cranky and I have reminded him over and over that I never signed on as a construction crew member. Nope, I prefer watching someone else build rather than doing it myself. I'll fix them dinner and snacks. I'm simply not strong enough to hold up what he wants me to or help carry something heavy but I'm the only helper he's got. He's finally learned he has to do most of it himself but I think he's running out of things to build.

  2. I really LOVED building my cabin 20+ years ago, though it was killer hard. But just can't, now, so watching, designing, and eep, writing checks seems to be my main function! I'm glad you convinced your husband you're not up to that stuff, it is VERY VERY hard on a body.
