In case you were wondering...

This blog exists to encourage all those who have ever wanted--and needed!--a tiny getaway close to home. A workshop, playhouse, garden shed, sanctuary, mini-greenhouse, studio, home office; whatever it is you need, it IS doable, with some sacrifice, imagination, and compromise.

It helps if you're handy, too.

Mark's a genius, by the way...

How he can take my rough sketches, definitely NOT to scale, and make a reality that is both pleasing and practical just amazes me. I'm NOT an architect, I didn't draw out specs, just ideas and suggestions and basic size and shape...

And here's this THING in the side yard that looks very much like my original sketch--only better. Real.

Thanks, kiddo...

  3. Loving that fractured window! Must replace my windows with fractured so I don't look out and see all the weeding and staking and tying up I need to do! :-)

  4. Doesn't that look cool? Like a glass spiderweb!

And thanks for your advice girl, the small stained glass window is in now, lower and a bit closer to the door, and looks EVER so much better...

  5. Jeanette, all you have to do is replace your windows with safety glass and then piss someone off enough that they try to break in.

It can be a bit disconcerting, at least until the police arrive...

  6. That's what happened to that one! And the one on the kitchen door we haven't replaced yet, in the rehab, though it's a lot more fractured. Guess they tried harder!
