In case you were wondering...

In case you were wondering...

This blog exists to encourage all those who have ever wanted--and needed!--a tiny getaway close to home. A workshop, playhouse, garden shed, sanctuary, mini-greenhouse, studio, home office; whatever it is you need, it IS doable, with some sacrifice, imagination, and compromise.

It helps if you're handy, too.

Woodstove Envy

WANT.  Unfortunately it's in Ireland and I'm not...

Want #2: http://www.outdoorblogging.com/a-review-of-the-morso-1410-squirrel-wood-burning-stove/

Either of these are small, efficient, and relatively safe...LOVE the big burning window on the Squirrel.  (OK, I like the name, too...I'm really fond of those silly creatures!

God I love wood heat...

  1. They are both really cute! Would you have to order wood for the winter then?

  2. I think the first one is cutest but it is really tiny if as they say, the piping is 3". But it is cute!

  3. It IS really tiny, Timaree, I saw a photo of it with a woman kneeling by it to put on a teapot. The pot covered the whole top of the stove!

And Rita, mostly this would be backup, and we have a lot of downed wood, twigs, branches, etc. plus scraps left from construction. I don't know if anyone cuts wood small enough to fit the Pipsqueak, but then it appears only to be in the UK anyway...

  5. Thank you! These are cool, and I had looked at those--but if I install a woodstove I find I really want to be able to see the fire.
