In case you were wondering...
This blog exists to encourage all those who have ever wanted--and needed!--a tiny getaway close to home. A workshop, playhouse, garden shed, sanctuary, mini-greenhouse, studio, home office; whatever it is you need, it IS doable, with some sacrifice, imagination, and compromise.
It helps if you're handy, too.

It's working!
Yep, the little hot plate works fine--one of the few things we've bought new for the shed, and I love it. Nice cuppa, yesterday morning. (The old copper kettle is from my camping days, the lovely pottery teapot from the early days of my first marriage...I was 21, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth...)
And no, it's not this colorful, but I had a black page and colored pencils--of course I went nuts!
Our good friend Kevin stopped stopped by the show us a pottery shard he'd found near the Fishing River, and we ended up with coffee and cookies and music in the shed. Glad we invested in that AC unit, because it was a lifesaver!
A lovely way to spend a Sunday...

It is so "quaint" Kathy! I'm glad it all turned out well with many experiences to remember the process!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, lots of memories...
ReplyDeleteI can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The teapot drawing on black is yummy. Love all the colors. This will probably turn out to be a nice gathering spot for you and friends...I wonder how it will be in the winter? Do you have a heater?
ReplyDeleteThere's something about the teapot on black that I really like, I can't seem to understand it, I just like it ^^
ReplyDeleteI love that sketch of the guitar guy too....although it makes me kinda miss my guitar though
Thank you both! Teapot was FUN. Joan, we have a couple of small space heaters, so far--we'll see how that does. It's a small room, and insulated, and we'll do removable storm windows where we can, so that should help.
ReplyDeleteAlex, Joseph hadn't picked his up in years--I'm so glad he kept it! This is fun...
This is just the beginning of many great adventures to come in the shed, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteI hope so, Raena, it was a delight!
ReplyDeleteThat gorgeous tea kettle! And I agree the sketch looks great against black. You are already building beautiful memories in this short time.
ReplyDeleteannie
Thank you, Annie! And yes, we are...
ReplyDeleteLove the teakettle, the sketches, and that you had music in the shed!! You are truly breaking it in. Maybe a space heater might keep it warm enough in the winter? :)
ReplyDeleteWe are, Rita! I think we'll start with a space heater or two--I've already used one, a couple of chilly summer mornings, to my surprise!
ReplyDeleteWe actually have a tiny woodstove, but I know how much room you need for space around one! It would have to go in the corner right behind Kevin's head in the photo...and with the three of us in there, and four when Patti and David stopped by, it was pretty full. Hmmmmm...
We'd also have to make another hole in the shed--and we can't seem to agree on where! J. wants to put it out the side wall by the stained glass window, with a couple of elbows, I want straight up through the roof for better draft and a simpler look. He's afraid it will leak, but the one at the cabin doesn't...
So for now
