Our friend and carpenter/builder Mark Boone stopped by with an estimate tonight; I gulped and wrote the first check. NOT that his price was too high, far from it, it's just that commitment thing. There's a big difference between thinking something would be neat, doodling sketches, and actually starting.
So tomorrow we call the lumberyard and DigRight, and have the underground utilities marked. Pretty sure it's only the phone wire on that side of the house, and pretty sure it's not in the way, but still...
We went out to the cabin to show him what we'd done there and how tall the short wall is (just over 5 feet, which would be fine) and we're actually doing it. He's got some free time right now, and the weather's cooperative...

This blog exists to encourage all those who have ever wanted--and needed!--a tiny getaway close to home. A workshop, playhouse, garden shed, sanctuary, mini-greenhouse, studio, home office; whatever it is you need, it IS doable, with some sacrifice, imagination, and compromise.
It helps if you're handy, too.
