In case you were wondering...

In case you were wondering...

This blog exists to encourage all those who have ever wanted--and needed!--a tiny getaway close to home. A workshop, playhouse, garden shed, sanctuary, mini-greenhouse, studio, home office; whatever it is you need, it IS doable, with some sacrifice, imagination, and compromise.

It helps if you're handy, too.

Checking building permits

Joseph checked the building codes for our town...we're good!

SECTION 105
PERMITS
Permits shall not be required for the following:

Building:
1. One-story detached accessory structure used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses and similar uses,
provided the floor area does not exceed 120 square feet (11.15 m2).

And it won't. Most likely 8 x 10'...I believe it needs to be 5 feet from a property line, but no problem since we own that lot, too...since my neighbor's house burned down, years ago, and there was talk of putting up an apartment building there. Um, no, I don't think so...

Note:
Before building ANYTHING, we strongly recommend checking with your City codes, though...our neighbors had to fight for months to get a wheelchair ramp built. (QUE?!?!)
