...not bad for half a day! Here, Mark's enclosing the outdoor storage, for wood and whatever (folding chairs? BBQ stuff? Not sure, but I know we'll put SOMETHING in it!)
The siding is up in both eaves now, too, though not firmly nailed in place. We talked about roofing and finish (paint, stain?) yesterday, so some of that will be today's work, God willing! I think we'll stain it red cedar for now, to seal the siding, and then if we want to paint it later, we can. J. likes white, and I do too, but...maybe after we've lived with the natural state for a while. We may paint the trim white, and probably will.
Not much work over the weekend, what with Father's Day and all, but progress feels good!

This blog exists to encourage all those who have ever wanted--and needed!--a tiny getaway close to home. A workshop, playhouse, garden shed, sanctuary, mini-greenhouse, studio, home office; whatever it is you need, it IS doable, with some sacrifice, imagination, and compromise.
It helps if you're handy, too.

I really can't believe how quickly it's taking shape! You are quite the "task master" . . . :-)
ReplyDeleteI think "driven" is the word, Betty!
ReplyDeleteWill you have power in the cabin?
ReplyDeleteYup, gotta. Must have light so I can work at night if I want.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess you'll insulate and then drywall the inside?
ReplyDeleteInsulate sí, drywall no.
ReplyDeletePablo, we're probably going to use the beadboard we used for the ceiling. We both like it, and we still have some. It doesn't need taping and mudding and all that; not real happy with the effect of the drywall on the house we're rehabbing. The house settled and seams now show. Besides the beadboard is sturdier...
ReplyDeleteThe reason I ask is because I have the Ozarks cabin that is just bare studs on the inside. I don't have any electricity to it yet (or probably for years) so I'm looking around at options.
ReplyDeleteAh! Yep, I'm planning to be over there, winter and summer, so need insulation. I LOVE the look of bare studs, and if I could I'd leave it, but I want to be as energy conscious (and warm!) as possible.*G* We haven't found a tiny potbelly stove yet, but we hope to find one by winter.
ReplyDeleteLooking good. It's always hard to wait for it to be done but it's fun watching the stages of it's growth too.
ReplyDeleteI need to get up two days' worth of pictures, but it's getting ready to storm, so I guess I'll shut down instead.*G*
