More little details...

Before we took our trip West, Joseph got the pegs up...they're going to be very helpful!

I have things hanging on some of them now...they'll hold coats, sweaters, art supplies, whatever...

I like the rustic effect of the funky two by fours...painted white, it's a great look.  Reminds me of our whitewashed chickenhouse back in our hippie farmer days...

The floor's a bit crude, too, but it'll do for now.  COLD these early mornings, though...and it's still September...

But BOY does it have great acoustics...

Utility corner

Joseph made me a neat little old-fashioned broom holder from a leftover board and a couple of wooden spools...works great.  There was a similar one on the steps to the basement, here, and we borrowed the idea....

It holds the broom's bristles upright, so it will last a lot longer...

I'd been needing both a stepstool to reach the storage area under the eaves on this side of the shed above the French doors, and more hidden storage...and voila! 

Found this in an antiques booth that was going out of business...it was half price, beautiful condition and sturdy!

Now it holds the dust rag, the matches, mosquito coils, Windex, etc. all nicely out of sight but handy!

Details...

I mentioned the other day about things that bugged us...for me, it was the visible electrical box...ugly!  Hence hanging the painting over it, for now...

It drove Joseph nuts when it looked like this for so long, with the big yellow wires...

And I finally got the last of the spar varnish on the wood (except for that darn damp board), even though the new "satin" finish doesn't match the OLD "satin."  Oh well...it was lovely to get the foggy plastic the door came with peeled off, after the varnish dried, and the glass cleaned! Took a whole lot of paper towels...

Wow. We can see OUT.

It took 3 layers of oil-based spar varnish, but the wood is well-protected now.

Except for the damp board, of course...

Then the other night Joseph fixed the stationary door so it opens and closes better...

The little bits of progress are fun, too...

Sometimes it's GOOD to have a precipitous drop in income...

...mine seems to go down every year. (My accountant just shakes his head.) That's the bad news.

As a freelancer, I have to pay quarterly estimated taxes, and the good news is that hooray, this year my precipitous drop means we got enough refund to pay for the shed project!




The paneling is on, though needs tweaking, of course...and one more electric box cut...

Bits and pieces

Detail work...we're rehabbing the old door we took off the house next door when we made a small back room into a bathroom. (No need for outdoor access!) It'll work fine for the north door on the shed.
