In case you were wondering...

In case you were wondering...

This blog exists to encourage all those who have ever wanted--and needed!--a tiny getaway close to home. A workshop, playhouse, garden shed, sanctuary, mini-greenhouse, studio, home office; whatever it is you need, it IS doable, with some sacrifice, imagination, and compromise.

It helps if you're handy, too.

Life at the Shed...

Joseph put up a new cork board for me behind the desk, and fixed the problem of the collapsing art lamp--the clamp was VERY poorly designed pot metal, and it actually bent.  He just drilled a hole right in the desk and the lamp fits snugly in it.  So far no collapses!

And then of course where do I work?  On the camp chair out in the alley, so I can get a good view of the endless yard sale...

  1. I am fascinated by what you are promoting here. Since I have worked in the Amish sheds industry for almost 25 years, prefab storage sheds are about as familiar to me as walking! I almost grew up in our family owned prefab sheds business. Just recently I was made aware of the idea of tiny houses which can be made from portable storage sheds. I like the idea of reducing our carbon footprint on the earth and our company is considering adding that to our line of products.

Recently, our family owned business built a prefab shed for a lady who turned it into a home studio sewing room. She has a business where she sews pillows and other things from antique European textiles. See the story on Bob Villa to learn more.
