In case you were wondering...

In case you were wondering...

This blog exists to encourage all those who have ever wanted--and needed!--a tiny getaway close to home. A workshop, playhouse, garden shed, sanctuary, mini-greenhouse, studio, home office; whatever it is you need, it IS doable, with some sacrifice, imagination, and compromise.

It helps if you're handy, too.

More little details...

Before we took our trip West, Joseph got the pegs up...they're going to be very helpful!

I have things hanging on some of them now...they'll hold coats, sweaters, art supplies, whatever...

I like the rustic effect of the funky two by fours...painted white, it's a great look.  Reminds me of our whitewashed chickenhouse back in our hippie farmer days...

The floor's a bit crude, too, but it'll do for now.  COLD these early mornings, though...and it's still September...

But BOY does it have great acoustics...

  1. Sounds like Fall is actually nosing in somewhere in this huge country of ours! I figure a small heater is going to keep you two comfy even in the winter. Turn on the coffee pot!

I can imagine the pegs are going to come in real handy.

  2. Yes, it is! The deck is covered with leaves...

We plan to have a timer on the little electric heater, so it comes on maybe an hour before I normally head over there. So far, one small one has been up to the job.

I love the pegs, and I'm sure they're going to be terrific! (Already have scissors hanging from one of them.)

  3. How do you store your paintings, matted and framed? Flat files, unmatted? Shrink-wrapped? Will they be in the shed? Do you use an easel for painting or just the desk?

  4. Mostly unmatted in flat files. I have some framed, but not all that many, and some matted. Some are covered with presentation envelopes.

No, won't keep them in the shed, no room for my flat files! Also, I expect temperature extremes there. I don't use an easel unless I'm working on a large acrylic on canvas, which is seldom--we finally put it away this year! I have a small tabletop easel I like, though...
