In case you were wondering...
This blog exists to encourage all those who have ever wanted--and needed!--a tiny getaway close to home. A workshop, playhouse, garden shed, sanctuary, mini-greenhouse, studio, home office; whatever it is you need, it IS doable, with some sacrifice, imagination, and compromise.
It helps if you're handy, too.

A year ago today...
Construction was well along...but I can't believe how much we've squeezed into this past year. I feel as though the shed has always been there. It's a second home...I am SO grateful. Thanks to my sweet husband and all the people who have contributed to and shared this special place...

Having it feel like home is just what you needed after all the hassle the city put you through!
ReplyDeleteYou are SO right, and it does. Very grateful for the air conditioner these past few days, too! *G*
ReplyDeleteIt was a great place for Joseph to recuperate after surgery, too, so he didn't have to worry about the kitties jumping on his incision...
I've not visited this site in a while, can't believe it's a year since you started the Shed...I still hesitate to call it that...more like the Cottage of Tranquility. It just fits you two.
ReplyDeleteHope you're both doing well...I hear Joseph had surgery...nothing serious, I hope...is he fully recovered?
I've changed over from a PC to a MacBookPro laptop...my goodness, why did I wait so long to convert. I love this thing. I can sit in my recliner with it on my lap and surf the world.
Best, Joan
Hi Joan, and thanks--it HAS been just over a year, amazing, isn't it? We both love it!
ReplyDeleteJoseph's doing very well...prostate cancer, but we caught it early. The shed was a wonderful, peaceful, kitty-free place for those first weeks of recuperation!
I have a lovely laptop too, now, but it's a PC.
Good to hear from you!
I don't know what I did...I thought I'd unsubscribed, but I'm able to comment...one of those cyber mysteries. So glad you're both well. I'll be paying visits to the Cottage now that I have my old homepage set up. I'm trying to get photos downloaded and a printer hooked up. I have an aversion to fiddling with these electronic gadgets. It's never an easy process for me.
ReplyDeleteI miss your posts at EDM.
Glad you're still here! I know, I'm not fond of messing with printers, scanners and such, either. My new(ish) combo printer scanner just doesn't do as good a job scanning, colors are off, and that's very frustrating.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the directions I've gone in this past year! My Artist's Journal Workshop book was a ton of work, and I compounded that with both the blog at http://artistsjournalworkshop.blogspot.com/ and the Facebook group(s).
I'm an EDM moderator, so I okay new memberships and moderated posts as well as dealing with problems there, but not much time for actual posting!
