In case you were wondering...

This blog exists to encourage all those who have ever wanted--and needed!--a tiny getaway close to home. A workshop, playhouse, garden shed, sanctuary, mini-greenhouse, studio, home office; whatever it is you need, it IS doable, with some sacrifice, imagination, and compromise.

It helps if you're handy, too.

New firepit

I tried to find a link to our new firepit, bought last fall (J. says on sale, maybe at Lowe's), and haven't been able to do so.  It's lightweight, has a grill the fire rests on (not sure about that part, may replace with sand or clay litter), has a screen lid and came with an odd little poker/lifter.  Quite the deal!

It was WELL under $50, and the ones I'm finding are mostly a lot more than that.  A LOT.  But Home Depot has the most inexpensive ones, now...$29!!

  1. Here is Overland Park we are not permitted to have open fires outdoors unless we are cooking over them. That doesn't stop every hardware store in town from selling those firepits like yours.

  2. I'm perfectly happy to cook on mine! Actually, the old one at the cabin has a grill and everything, I had it made to fit. I've cooked some great meals on that thing!

Hope you got my thank you for the rocks, they're wonderful!

  3. Yes, I got your thank you, and I saw your post about them too.

If ever you think you are unable to care for them any longer, let me know. I'll take them back if necessary.

  4. So far, they seem to be fitting in with the other rocks very well, though the little orange one is a bit of a show-off! They've been joined by another limestone rock with holes that I found in the lot next door, and there's a fossil-filled one that may move in, as well. They don't seem to mind a diverse neighborhood!

I got a lovely photo yesterday, plan to get it up soon!
