Birdwatching in the snow

The snows we've had lately have really brought out the birds in numbers!  I didn't get a thing done one day but watch the snow, watch the birds, and sketch...the shed is a great place for that.  I am SO glad I chose the big French doors and the window on the opposite side so I can watch from both directions.

Our feeders are getting a workout!

  1. Perfect activity for a snowy day--enjoying the snow and the birds. I saw my first rusty last month at Wheeler NWR in AL. Nice comparison sketches.

  2. Vickie, I'm not ENTIRELY sure whether it was a Rusty or a Brewer's...they're so much alike, with those light eyes. (Too small for a grackle.) But fun, just the same!

  3. Thats so lovely, and it is so true how relaxing it can be to watch the snow falling and birds feeding near by. I see them here from our house and from my studio and I enjoy it so much. I cant wait for spring to come so starlings and red wing black birds will come back. Really lovely paintings!! I was wondering how do you heat your workspace?

    1. Ive got a small electric heater--thinking of going to baseboard heat eventually to save floor space, though (it's only 10 x 10 and pretty full!) And thank you!
